My husband usually wears a XXL in shorts/swimsuits but when I told him the measurements he told me to order him XXXL. They fit him good, a tad loose, but I think the XXL would have been snug. So with swim trunks, I recommend going up one size for comfort.
They are very well made and very good quality. He is very happy with them.
