Bought this the same time as a shirt, when reading reviews for the shirt, I bought the garments a few sizes bigger than I normally would, to be safe. While the shirt was WAY too small, this item, as I expected, was bigger than required, so I could have safely gotten my proper size, but it being slightly too big is fine.
